Perks Guide and Priority
Perks are extremely important for longer runs and progressing thousands of waves. Focusing on the right perks will allow to increase Coins income and allow you to reach further waves.
Perks Guide is part of The Tower - Idle Tower Defense Guides series, where you can find the rest of the guides on the game.
In order to use perks, it's necessary to finish the Unlock Perks Lab that unlocks at Tier 2 Wave 150 Milestone. Afterwards perks will be available during the normal runs, they aren't available during the Tournaments.
You get Perks upon completing required number of waves (200, can be decreased using Perks Research). Once you get a perk you will be able to pick one of 2 perks. You can get more perk choice options by doing Lab research as well.
Depending on your Build and goal of the run (if you are farming or pushing) you would like to go for different perks.

Perks Lab Research[edit source]
There are various Perks Lab Research available, and some of them will greatly improve the performance, boost your farming efficiency or just improve QoL and allow more idle gameplay.
- Auto Pick Perks unlocks option to automatically pick perks during the run, improving the idle gameplay.
- Perk Option Quantity adds additional perk option upon picking the perk. It will greatly increase the chances of getting the perk you need or avoiding harmful perks.
- Ban Perks will remove some perks from the pool, so they will never appear as an option when picking the perk.
- Auto Pick Ranking will increase the number of perks that will be affected by Auto Pick. If there are no perks that are on the auto pick list when getting the perk automatically, game will select the random perk.
- Waves required will lower the perk requirement per wave. It will increase the number of perks you can get in the longer runs.
- Standard Perk Bonus makes standard perks stronger. That includes Perk Wave Requirement and All Coins Bonuses perks, making them even better.
- First Perk Choice will allow to guarantee one of the perks as one of the options for the first perk unlock.
- Improve Trade-Off Perks will increase the bonuses from the trade-off perks, but most of them aren't that useful for the newer players.
Perks Mechanics[edit source]
Overall while perks are pretty simple, there are additional mechanics in play. Perks can be set up before the run if you have proper research.
First of all, perks will be queued up if you don't pick them. That means that you can come back to the game while leaving it idle and go though all the perk unlocks you managed to get. You can use it to your advantage in the pushing runs, but in the farming runs Auto Pick is preferable, since getting those Coins perks asap drastically improve the gains.
Perk Wave Requirement is retrospective. So even if it's picked up later in the run, it will recalculate required waves and will give you perks based on the new wave requirement.
First Perk Choice is debatable, but most of the times it should be Perk Wave Requirement. It will allow to get perks faster, improving Coins per minute earlier for the farming runs.
For Ban Perks select the perks you want to avoid. There are 2 strategies available for banning perks:
- Avoid perks that will end the run faster. For Blender build those are Trade-Off perks like the ones Lowering Knockback Force, Tower Max Health, Enemies don't drop cash, Enemies damage bonus, enemies ranged distance reduction but damage increase. Most of these will affect the length of the run and will result in lower max waves. Avoiding them will allow you to stay up longer and since in the later waves you usually have better coins/min income, will result in more Coins
- Avoid useless perks that can be picked up multiple times. Most Standard Perks can be taken up to 5 times. If that's a useless stat, you will lose 5 perk opportunities wasted on somepthing completely useless. So if they are banned there are less perks in the picking pool and higher chance to get something useful. The drawback here is that sometimes you might end up with all bad perks and will have to pick one that will decrease the max waves of the run.
Both strategies are viable, so pick the ones that suits you the most.
Auto Pick Ranking should be selected based on the goals of the run, but most of the time it's tuned for the farming runs, so move useful perks up, and useless ones down. The perks affected by Auto Pick will be highlighted, while other perks will have gray background. Banned perks have red background.
Farming Perks[edit source]
Farming perks focus on increasing Coins per minute in order to farm as much as possible, as fast as possible.
Here is a recommended order of perks that benefit farming Builds the most:
- Perk Wave Requirement
- x1.80 coins but lower max Health (might want to avoid that if you want longer runs)
- Golden Tower Bonus (might be lower if Golden Tower isn't upgraded properly)
- All coins bonuses
- Increase max game speed by 1
- Black Hole Duration (should be higher if Black Hole is synced with Golden Tower and upgraded)
Other perks should increase survivability for longer runs. For Blender Build it's Defense percent and Max health etc.
